Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso "the land of upright people" is the largest city in the country, with a population of over a million inhabitants. Apart from being the capital of the country, it also acts as the administrative, communications, cultural and economic center of the nation. The city is served by an international airport, rail links to Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire and to Kaya in the north of Burkina, as well as a highway to Niamey, Niger.
Tourist attractions in the city includes the Bangr-Weoogo and L’Unité Pédagogique parks, the “Naba Koom”; which is a statue depicting a woman handling a calabash to pour water as well as well as the Ouagadougou Cathedral. The city also boasts other attractions spots including cinemas, nightclubs, and French, American, and Zaka cultural centers.
